Starting an online business

Somebody in one of my mailing lists asks about how one starts an online business, how to look for products and how to market.  This is my reply, sort of like Online Business Philippines 101.  It’s in Taglish (combination of English and Tagalog) so if you have questions or if you don’t understand, feel free to comment. :)

Re:  Products
I guess you should start with what you know and what you’re interested in.  Marami dito sa n@w ang nagbebenta ng baby stuff.  That’s because maraming mommy too.  That’s something we know A LOT about.  And syempre we’re all interested in stuff for our kids. Read more

We’ll be trying to make this site easier for sellers to list their stores and for buyers to search! So please bear with us if there are some site changes in the next few days…

Hello, Online Sellers!

It’s November, a month before the traditionally biggest gift giving event of the year, Christmas!

It is with pride that, finally, Tiangge On The Net, will be open to listing by Philippine based online stores!  Listing is FREE!  Just click on the tab “For Sellers”, fill out the form and click send.  We will be listing your store, absolutely free!

Why list with us?

  1. Make your online store searchable through this site!
  2. It’s absolutely free!
  3. Legitimate and honest online stores can get good feedback from buyers, increasing your reputation!  (Of course, scammers would be exposed, too!)
  4. We will be featuring one store monthly.  Initially, we will be picking the “Featured Store of the Month” via an online raffle.  The earlier you get listed, the more chances you will be picked to be the Featured Store of the Month.
  5. We will be working on an online “Wish List” for buyers.  Get your products noticed and “wished for”!  This means more opportunities for your products to be bought!

Do tell us how we could improve our site.  We’d love to improve your online shopping experience!

An Online Buyer’s Frustration

There are now so many online entrepreneurs, mostly with sites hosted on multiply, sulit or ebay.ph.  Which is very good for somebody who can’t or won’t go out to the malls to buy stuff.  I love searching for useful and cool stuff online!  However, I do have some frustrations as an online buyer.  They are as follows:

  1. Not knowing where to look for a specific item.
  2. Not knowing if the seller is legit or a scammer.  (Thankfully, I’ve never been scammed but I’ve heard stories of how other people are scammed!  Scary…)
  3. Seeing an interesting store or item somewhere, then forgetting what site it is.
  4. Not being updated with new multiply sites 😀
  5. Sellers not posting their prices.  (The same frustration I feel when I shop in the mall and the item is not tagged!  I hate having to ask about the price.  Waste of time on both the buyer’s and seller’s part).

That’s why I thought that a site which lists online stores under 1 umbrella site, searchable by tags and categories, and where buyers could leave feedback about their experiences, would be a good service.

What about you…What are your frustrations about online shopping?

Tiangge On The Net: An Introduction

The internet has revolutionized a lot of things, among them the way we buy and sell goods.  Online stores are convenient for both the buyer and the seller.  For the seller, it is cheaper to set up a virtual store, post pictures of the goods, post the contact information and wait for buyers to contact you.  No need to set up shop.  Open virtually 24/7.

For buyers too busy (or too lazy — like me!)  to actually go to the brick and mortar stores, this is a good way to shop without having to step out of your home.  And, you can shop anytime of the day, whenever you want to!

Tiangge is a place where small entrepreneurs set up their stalls to sell their wares.  This is very popular in the Philippines.  Tiangge on the net aims to bring the small entrepreneurs under one roof so buyers will have an easier time looking for what they want.

Here’s hoping that we’ll all have a much better online shopping experience!
